Future Freshmen

All incoming freshman students who are interested in the Data Analytics major must first apply and be admitted to The Ohio State University. On the application you will want to indicate your interest in the Data Analytics major within the College of the Arts and Sciences.

Prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply by the university’s early action deadline of November 1st. There are several benefits to applying early, including receiving an admissions decision by January, eligibility for merit based scholarships, and participation in the Honors and Scholars programs at Ohio State.

Prospective students who are interested in visiting campus to learn more about the Data Analytics major can email Jennifer Wells, Academic Program Specialist, at wells.102@osu.edu to schedule a meeting. It is recommended that you arrange your visit at least 2-3 weeks in advance as appointments fill quickly. In addition, we encourage prospective students to arrange an Admissions Overview and Tour to learn more about Ohio State's application and admissions requirements.

Data Analytics Pre-Major Program

Upon being selected for admission into The Ohio State University and selecting Data Analytics as your major of choice, students will be placed into the pre-Data Analytics major program. This program will allow you to begin coursework in your first year at OSU within the Data Analytics major program. Additionally, students will be assigned to work directly with the major advisor for the Data Analytics program. Students generally submit an application for admission into the Data Analytics major program after they complete their first year at OSU. Preference for admission into the major is given to students with strong academic aptitude in Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science. Admission to the major is not guaranteed.
