Registration is Open for DataFest 2021!
The American Statistical Association (ASA) DataFest™ @ OSU will be held virtually on March 26-28, 2021. DataFest is a collaborative competition for undergraduate students at The Ohio State University. Students work in teams of 3-5 over the course of a weekend to analyze a massive data set provided by a national or international company. No prior experience is required, and all majors are welcome! Team formation sessions and a series of workshops will be held before DataFest so students can form teams and hone their data analysis skills.
DataFest promotes collaboration and networking within the data science community. Graduate students, faculty, and industry professionals who regularly analyze data are invited to participate in the event as mentors. While the undergraduate students do all of the work, mentors assist students in formulating their approach to analyzing the data set.
At the end of the weekend-long data analysis challenge, each team will submit a 5 minute video explaining their findings. A panel of judges comprised of faculty and data analytics professionals from a variety of fields will review the presentations and award prizes in several categories, including best visualization, best insight, best use of external data, and judge's choice.
